Cause of his death was found murdered and floating in the harbour. General Notes Charles Harris was a Sea Captain, and after owning his own sailing ships, he became the first Captain of a Steamship with the Adelaide Steamship Company. He was found floating in the harbour at Port Adelaide, South Australia; he had been murdered. All the contents of the Ship's safe were missing and never recovered. Charles was greatly respected, and flags were flown at half mast after his death. Charles married 1wife UNK about 1858 in prob South Australia, Australia. (1wife UNK was born about 1845 in prob Australia 2.) Charles next married Sarah Jane MAUD on 16 February 1865 in Marden, South Australia, Australia. (Sarah Jane MAUD was born in 1840 in Preston Capes, Northamptonshire, England and died in 1925 in Cheltenham, South Australia, Australia.) |
