  Howard Springer, 87, a resident of Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa, and formerly of rural Eddyville, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Pleasant Park. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, Reverend Robert Dean officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Albia. Visiting hours will begin Sunday at 3 p.m., with the family will be Sunday 3 - 4 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
  
  He was born March 20, 1916, in Linn County, Mo, the son of Clinton Henry and Gertrude Boxx Springer. Early in his adult life Howard married Erma Smith; they were later divorced. He was a farmer and also a welder, and had worked at Carter Steel Supply and Fabrication and then later with PAMCO in Oskaloosa. Later, he married Juanita Dorothy Chapman.
  
  He is survived by his wife Juanita Dorothy Springer of Oskaloosa; a daughter, ----- Kelsey of Lovilia; and two grandchildren: ----- Kelsey and his wife, -----, and ----- Phillips.
  
  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Howard Springer; a son in law, Keith Kelsey; and two sisters: Maureen Springer and Betty Sparks.

• He was buried at the Oakview Cemetery in Albia, Monroe County, Iowa, USA on 9 June 2003.
