ARLINGTON (Special) — Funeral services for John Forsythe were held in the Gleim Funeral Parlor Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Robert Williams was the officiating clergyman.
John William Forsythe was born April 8, 1886, at Manchester, and died at his home between Wadena and Arlington on Nov. 3, 1949, at 63. He was the son of William Forsythe and Clara Letts Hines, and was married Nov. 25, 1910, to Lizzie Cheek. They had six children, Pearl, (Mrs. Dan Thomas); Ethel, Mrs. Carl Pettit, Waterloo; Florence, Mrs. Earl Weston, Lamont; Louise, Mrs. Paul Craft, West Union; Dale, Waterloo, and Earl, who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife and five children; his mother, Mrs. Clara Hines, Manchester; six brothers, Henry, Lamont; Harry, Edgewood; Clarence, Vernie, and Peter Hines, Independence; four sisters, Mrs. Art Straw, Mrs. Robert Lathrop, Independence; Mrs. Will Bandy. Dundee, and Mrs. John Williams, Manchester, and six grandchildren.
Besides his infant son he was preceeded in death by his father, one sister, and one brother. Forsythe spent his childhood around Strawberry Point and Manchester. His later life was spent around Arlington and Wadena, where he was engaged in farming.
He will be laid to rest at Noble Cemetery, east of Strawberry Point.
