MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Jon Darren Cox, 32, died Thursday afternoon at home. The Posey County coroner's office is investigating.
He worked for D.R. Parker Construction Co.
He was a deputy in the Posey County Sheriff's office for six years. He established the D.A.R.E. program in Posey County.
He was a member of Savah General Baptist Church, Elks, JayCees, Conservation Club, Indiana Sheriff's Association and Fraternal Order of Police.
Surviving are his wife, -----; a daughter, ----- Cox, at home; a son, -----, at home; his parents, ----- Cox of Mount Vernon and ----- Cox of Savah; two sisters, ----- ----- of Greenbriar, Tenn., and ----- ----- of Mount Vernon; a brother, ----- of Mount Vernon; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Norvell Funeral Home, with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.R.E. Program in care of the Posey County Sheriff's Department.
