John P. Borayi
ORISKANY FALLS — John P. Borayi, 90, of 104 McAdam St., died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at the Harding Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1909, in the town of Eaton, the son of the late Andrew and Anna Aparco Borayi and was educated in Stockbridge schools.
On July 24, 1933, in Munnsville, he married Gladys I. Zabele. Mrs. Borayi died on Feb. 19, 1997.
For 35 years, Mr. Borayi was the Plant Manager of Jetter Dairy, which later became Queens Farms Dairy, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Oriskany Falls Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, served as their Chief from 1953 to 1963 and was noted for his famous homemade clam chowder that was served during the firemen's field days.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Norene and Ellie Eychner and Janice Szewczyk, all of Oriskany Falls, Sharon and Lester Cleveland of Hamilton and Charleen and Rodney Jones of Richfield Springs; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew and Joseph; one sister, Anna, and one grandson, Michael Szewczyk.
