Hugh married Ellen McBRIDE, daughter of Thomas McBRIDE and Ellen BURNS, on 1 March 1889 in Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland. (Ellen McBRIDE was born about 1863 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3 and died on 13 November 1891 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 6.). The cause of her death was enteric fever (10 days) and hypostatic congestion of the lungs (4 days).5
