General Notes Leonard Wilson Barron served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a Marine in the 1086th Platoon. He was one of the first on the beaches of Iwo Jima, and participated in the attack on Saipan and Okinawa. He worked after the war at Kaiser Aluminum first as a foreman, and later as the supervisor of the assembly line that made aluminum for cans without any formal education beyond grade school. He was a hard worker and a well respected and kind man. He died of a heart attack while driving with his wife to Pot Holes, Washington on a fishing trip.
