ELEANOR MART, 90, formerly of 101 East Highway Street in Perry, IL passed away at 12:20 PM Monday Nov. 1, 2010 at the Pittsfield Manor. She was born Oct. 24, 1920 in rural Chambersburg the daughter of the late Wayne and Lulu "Lou" Crawford Metz. She married John B. Mart March 18, 1944. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Mart was a graduate of Chambersburg High School. She was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church, and was also active at the Fairmount Presbyterian Church near her home. She also attended Perry Presbyterian Church after she and her husband moved into Perry in 1970. She was a member of the Fairmount Home Extension for over 60 years, serving as Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She was an avid quilter and was well known for her delicious homemade pies which she generously provided for many church and community events. Surviving are several cousins including Mrs. Carol Sue Roe of Liberty, Carl Metz of Versailles, and Glen Crawford of Maquoketa, IA. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday Nov. 4, 2010 at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville with Rev. David Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Perry. Friends may call on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wilson-McCord Cemetery Association.
