Gordon's parents:  George Lawrence Mentzer (born 18 May 1873 in Illinois; died 22 Mar 1955 in Los Angeles, CA); married 30 Aug 1904 to Phoebe Mae Harrah (born 15 Mar 1885 in Hancock County, Nebraska; died 02 Jan 1913 in Hart, Michigan).  Phoebe's parents are said to be Samuel Gibson Harrah & Anna Blue; James Harrah & Martha Gibson are said to be her paternal grandparents.

Gordon's siblings: Naomi Sybil Mentzer (born 18 Aug 1905 in Florence, Colorado; married first Earl D. McCaig on 24 Jul 1923 in Tombstone, Arizona; married secondly Elmer Moore on 18 Jan 1930 in Lordsburg, New Mexico) and Hazel Dorothy Mentzer (born 17 Nov 1907 in Florence, Colorado; married William P. Card).

Gordon's paternal grandparents:  Benjamin Wiles Mentzer (born 1846 in Chambersburg, Pennslyvania, USA; died December 1912 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa).  Johnathan Mentzer & Elizabeth Wiles are said to be Benjamin's parents.  Siblings are said to be: John, David, George, Alice, James, Sam, Jacob & Catherine.  On 24 Jul 1870 in Greenbush, Illinois, Benjamin married Elizabeth Jane Harmon (born 1848 in Mount Olivet, Kentucky; died 30 Jan 1930 in Los Angeles, California).  Other children of the union between Benjamin and Elizabeth were Nora Catherine Mentzer (born 1876 in Marion, Iowa; married to J. Allen Smith) and Frances Jane Mentzer (born 1878 in Osawatime, Kansas; married Reese Patterson).  Elizabeth also married a Nathaniel Parker.
