    Virgil Shuls

         Virgil Bennie "Ben" Shuls, 68, of Whitewater died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at his home.
         He was born Oct. 11, 1942, in Delta, to Virgil N. Shuls and ----- ----- -----. He and ----- ----- were married May 5, 1961, at Delta.
         Shuls was a 27-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was a Boy Scout leader many years. He was a member of Carpenters Union 1839 in St. Louis, and past president of the Lions Club of Gray Summit, Mo.
         Survivors include his wife, ----- Shuls of Whitewater; mother, ----- ----- of Whitewater; three sons, ----- Shuls (-----) of Pensacola, Fla., ----- Shuls (fiancee -----) of Whitewater, ----- Shuls (-----) of Villa Ridge, Mo.; a brother, ----- Shuls (-----) of Villa Ridge; two sisters, ----- ----- (-----) of Ozark, Ala., ----- ----- of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, -----, -----, -----, -----, ----- and ----- Shuls; and two great-grandchildren, ----- and -----.
         He was preceded in death by his father.
         Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
         A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Stroderville Cemetery in Whitewater.
         Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
