bullet  General Notes

JACKOLYN SHAROL BROWN was one of a pair of twin girls born 18 January 1936 in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, USA to Lloyd Hubert Brown and Charlotte Fern "Sally" Griffith. Her parents' marriage was a troubled one. They had married briefly in 1932 when they were both quite young and they had a son (Jackolyn's older brother), but they divorced soon after. Then they re-married in 1935, but about a year after the twins' birth they divorced for a second time.

After her parents split up, the children were separated. The older son stayed with his father, and the twin girls went briefly with their mother. By the 1940 census, however, Sally had remarried to Charles Gilroy Bolinder and the twins were in the care of Sally's first cousin, George Langley and his wife, Edna.

Jackolyn spent a number of years in Halfway, Oregon, as the Langley's daughter. Then she and her sister were reunited with her mother and stepfather; they lived in Las Vegas. After graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1954, Jackie moved to California. It was there that she married her first husband, Donald Montgomery. Together they had two children; however, the marriage ended in divorce after 6 years. Next Jackolyn married Claude Clair Ritter, whom she knew from growing up in Halfway. Their marriage produced another daughter, but it too was short-lived. They divorced after 4 years.

Jackolyn moved to the Los Angeles area. She was living in Azusa in 1966. She married Guy Shuffield sometime before 1968, when she died of cancer at the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, Los Angeles County, California, USA.  Jackolyn was buried at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, the community where she had been raised.  Years later, her adoptive parents, George and Edna Langley, were also buried in Pine Haven Cemetery, as was her second husband Claude.
