bullet  General Notes

JBR identified Edward's wife Rebecca as Rebecca Thurston, daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Thurston, b. 28 Nov 1689.  4 daughters from this marriage are enumerated — Sarah, b. 20 Dec 1711 (married first Josiah Washburn and 2nd Samuel Crane), Mary (b. 1714 and married Edmond Burt), Priscilla (b. 27 Feb 1718 and married John Hackett), and Eunice (b. 23 Sept 1722, but died young).  The daughters are referred to in the will of Edward Richmond (son of John and Abigail, died 1741 in Taunton).

However, Joshua Bailey Richmond ALSO has this same Rebecca Thurston marrying Edward Richmond (b. 3 December 1689 in Little Compton, son of Capt. Edward & Sarah Richmond).  Marriage date is almost identical (6 May 1711 instead of 6 March 1711), and 4 daughters are enumerated — Sarah (b. 20 Dec 1711), Mary (b. 1714), Priscilla (b. 27 Feb 1718, married Samuel Hart of Little Compton on 19 Mar 1733), and Eunice (b. 23 Sep 1722).  All daughters were said to be born in Little Compton according to the birth records of Little Compton.

Sources other than JBR have Rebecca Thurston as being born in Little Compton.  They show another marriage to Peter Worden after the death of Edward Richmond (b. 1689 Little Compton).  Daughter Sarah Richmond is married to Caleb Carr, but with a slightly different birthdate in 1711.  Daughter Eunice, rather than dying young (as presumed by her lack of mention in ER's will), appears to have married a James Cranston in Rhode Island.

My conlusion is that there were two different Rebeccas married to two different Edward Richmonds.  They had similarly named daughters.
Rebecca Thurston from Little Compton married the Edward Richmond of Little Compton.  I am changing the Rebecca Thurston that Edward Richmond of Taunton married  to "Rebecca unknown".  May 2008.  kmh.

Is it possible this Rebecca was also Rebecca Thurston?  That there were two Rebecca Thurstons, both daughters of Jonathan and Sarah?

Estimates are based off of known event dates (birth dates, christening dates, marriage dates, graduation dates, retirement events, death dates, etc.) from the lives of the individual's immediate ancestors or descendants. Women are estimated to be roughly 20 years older than the birth of the first child; men are about 5 years older than their wives; siblings are estimated at 2 years apart.
