Doris Nelson
Evansville, Ind. Doris Nelson, 89, of Evansville, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 6, 1924, in Evansville, to the late Charles and Elsie (Yourgans) Schwartz.
She was a 1942 graduate of the old Central High School. She and her husband, -----, have enjoyed spending time in Florida five to six months out of the year for many years. She loved fishing and playing cards, especially Clabber.
Doris was preceded in death by her sons, David and Paul Nelson; parents; and sisters, Jeanne Schwartz and Betty Bauer.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, ----- Nelson; daughters, ----- (-----) ----- and ----- -----; son, ----- (-----) Nelson; grandchildren, Emilie, Daniel, Julie and Keith (Megan) -----, Julia (Brandon) -----, Toby -----, John (Lara) -----, Shelley (Rick) ----- -----, Brett (Leslie) ----- and Bonnie -----; great-grandchildren, Shelby -----, Brooke -----, Jack, Bella, Bailey and Carly -----, Heidi -----, Aniyah ----- and Ashlynn -----; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tom Hubacheck, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service at the funeral home.
