General Notes
twin brother with Andrew McGill (who died at 10 months of age)
since their mother died 10 days after childbirth and since the eldest daughter was too young, Robert McGill asked his late wife's sister, Agnes (b. Aird) Livingstone to raise the twins. After Andrew McGill's death (about 10 months later), Agnes Livingstone raised George as "George Livingstone." When George's older brother Charles McGill died on December 29, 1911 their father thought that George (then 23) should know so that he could attend the funeral. George was stunned and had a stormy scene with Agnes Livingstone. Thereafter there were chilly relations between George and Agnes Livingstone, and he began to list himself as "George McGill."
