BOY'S DEATH DURING OPERATION
Evidence that efforts at resuscitation, including massage of the heart, were carried out without success for half an hour after nine-years-old boy had stopped breathing during an operation for acute appendicitis at Southport Infirmary, was given at a Southport inquest last night. The coroner (Mr. C.Bolton) returned verdict of "Death by Misadventure" on Michael Patrick Harrower, son of Squadron-Leader S. D. Harrower, of Range Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, a boarder at Birkdale school.
Dr. John A. Panton, who performed the operation, said the boy's death was due to the intervention of ether convulsions, which it was absolutely impossible to foresee.
The Coroner said he was satisfied everything possible was done to save the boy's life.
