General Notes Harry's first job was in E. St. Louis for the Hyland Dairy Co. He also worked at Nugent's Department store in St. Louis. His Aunt Helen asked him to move to Flora to help her with her grocery store. He lived with his Aunts Helen and Mary and worked at the store until it was forced to close during the depression. He stayed in Flora and worked in the Kuehne Furniture Factory. In 1936 the plant closed and he returned to E. St. Louis where he worked with the Alton Railroad. He was drafted into the Army-Air corp in 1942 and became a staff seargant. He was discharged in October 1945, right before his wedding to Mary Catherine Cullinane. From 1945 to his retirement in 1975 he was a clerk in the purchasing department at Venice, Illinois for the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. Recorded Events in His Life
