Allen Dean Clark, 85, of Rice Lake died Jan. 11.
Mr. Clark was born June 7, 1921 to Andrew and Mary (Wroe) Clark of Minong. He served with the XIV Corps 607th Medical Clearing Company and aided in caring for the wounded throughout the battle for Manila and cared for 2,100 Americans released from the Los Banos interment camp. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with a battle star for his part in the Battle of Luzon, including the freeing of Manila. Mr. Clark also was entitled to wear the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with battle stars and the Good Conduct medal. He married Virginia Culver on June 26, 1951 in Nebraska, and they lived there until moving to Rice Lake in 1960. Mr. Clark worked at Lakeside Hospital until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three sons, ----- of Almena, and ----- and -----, both of Rice Lake; two daughters, ----- ----- of Amery and Debra Hawkins of Prescott; a stepson, ----- Culver of Mesquite, Nev., three stepdaughters, ----- ----- of Colorado Springs, Colo., Janice Culver of Chetek and ----- ----- of Indianapolis, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sylvin of Duluth, Minn., and Alvin of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a sister, Mildred Cheever of Superior.-01/17/07
