Marshall Moore Collver
May 5, 1911 - April 9, 2004
Funeral and burial services for Marshall M. Collver, 92, of Sparks, Nev. were held in Reno.
He was born on May 5, 1911, on Stock Slough, near Marshfield, to Tillo Monroe and Carrie Evelyn Moore Collver. He died on April 9, 2004, due to complications of heart disease.
He worked in the Bay Area as a dairy farmer, marrying Ruth Smart in 1935, until they relocated to San Jose, Calif., during World War II, when he entered San Jose Bible College. After completion of his studies, he served as the pastor of The Church of Christ, in various communities in Oregon and California. He and Ruth retired to Arizona. Then, in 1991, they moved to Sparks, where Ruth died in 2001. After leaving the family farm, he took great pleasure in providing home-grown vegetables and fruits for his family and others in need, every year until the time of his death. He had an unfailing love and tenderness for his family and those in the churches he served and where he worshiped after retirement. He was particularly fond of returning to Oregon, where he was in demand as a preacher at family church camps.
He was survived by his sister, Enid Staines, of Coos Bay; one son and daughter-in-law; two daughters and one son-in-law; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sisters, Gladys Lundquist and Joyce Ross; brothers, Chester, Vernon, Gordon, and infant brother Keith; and one granddaughter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent in care of Judy Harmon, 1600 York Way, Sparks, NV 89431.
