bullet  General Notes

Floyd died because of a car accident that happened up on Juniper Flat.  He turned aside to get a cigarette; he later told his sister-in-law Alma that "it wasn't worth it."  He didn't die right away — it took several hours.  When he was first in Maupin, the doctor thought that all that was wrong with him was his broken leg.  They didn't know (and didn't have the equipment to have known) that he had internal injuries.  Everett loaded Floyd into his pickup truck and was taking him to the hospital in Bend (where Floyd's home was), but Floyd died before they got there.  He died just outside of Redmond, Oregon.
