Comments: I stumbled across your website looking for information about my grandfather, Winfield Scott Neal, and his marriage to Gladys Cobbs Messinger. I found a California Marriage License for Scott Neal and Gladys Cobbs Messinger. It shows that they were married in Los Angeles on December 4, 1929 when Gladys was 22 and Scott was 29. The 1930 Census shows Gladys and Scott living in Seattle, Washington, with his mother and siblings. I assume that Gladys and Scott were divorced sometime between 1930 and 1934, which is when Scott Neal married my grandmother, Rose Marie Baker. Scott Neal was born December 13, 1899, in Boise, Idaho, and died October 6, 1976, in Boise, Idaho. Do you know when Scott and Gladys were divorced and where they lived at that time. I can't find any divorce records.
Admin reply: Hi, Joseph! Thanks for visiting my website, and for sharing your information on your grandfather. Not only did it fill in some blanks on one of my relative's husbands, but it also revealed some errors in other data I had. So, thank you for that.
Unfortunately, I also was unable to find any divorce records. Did you get a copy of the marriage certificate between Gladys and Scott, though?
I will contact you directly by email soon.
cheers, Kirsty Haining Seattle, Washington

Comments: Hi Kristy,
My Great grandfather was George Haining Lyle m(1860 - 1942). His grandson Robert D. Lyle (1920 - present) is my dear-old-Dad. I am pulling together as much family history on the Catrine, Scotland Lyles as I can while Dad is with us to enjoy the history. He tells stories of George Haining Lyle regaling him with tales of kite-flying in Scotland as a boy, and how George H. rolled his Rrrrs when calling him (Rrrrrrobert my boy....) I would be happy to share the Lyle/Haining information I have on hand if it would be of interest. Thanks! Jonathan Lyle
Admin reply: Hi, Jonathan!
It's very nice to hear from you. I'll send you an email directly very soon, but I should caution you that how all the Hainings connect in the mid-1700s is still a bit theoretical at this point. I got tired of keeping separate databases on Hainings that I believed to be related, and so I eventually linked them into one tree even though the relationship is not fully proven at this point in time.
Anyway, everything from George Haining and Agnes Muir and on down is proven. As is everything from James Haining and Jean Currie on down. What is NOT proven is that George and James are brothers. I have an alternate theory where they are cousins...
I'll write to you soon!

Comments: Lloyd Brown was my maternal Grandfather. My mother was Janet Sharon Brown (Langley, Bolinder, Kilgore, Krigbaum, Whited, Huff, Keller) just a few names there... Twin sister to Jackolyn Sharol Brown.
Admin reply: Hi, Cynthia!
It's very nice to hear from you and Wren. You say your mother "was" — am I to understand that she is deceased? If so, you have my condolences.
I will write to you directly soon.
cheers, your 3rd cousin,
Kirsty Haining Seattle, Washington
P.S. Happy New Year!

Comments: My maternal grandfather was Lloyd Hubert Brown. My mother was one of three children he had with Sally Charlotte Fern GRIFFITH. The oldest was Kenneth BROWN (I'll have to get his birth and death date for you). My mother is Janet Sharon BROWN, twin sister to Jackolyn Sharol BROWN, who is the only child showing on your site.
Admin reply: Hi, Wren —
I'm delighted to hear from you and your sister. We are 3rd cousins. The reason you only see the name for your aunt Jackolyn is because, of course, to my knowledge she is the only one in your family from that generation who is deceased. In fact, both your mother and you are in my tree (but of course you show up as "Living".
I will write to you directly very soon. In the meantime, let me wish you a very Happy New Year!

Comments: Hi! Thanks for uploading your family tree! It's help me a lot to fill in some blanks. Do you happen to have any more information on James Alfred McLane. He'd be my Great great grandfather... who is he to you? James Leslie was his son. J. Leslie married Maragret (meyer) McLane. Their kids were Stanley, Clarissa, Lorraine Francis, Frances C, Jerome Mclane.
Stanley McLane Married my grandma Betty Lou McLane They had 5 kids. Richard, Sharleen, Lou Ann, Cindy, Kevin. Richard/rick passed away in 2009 from cancer.
Admin reply: Hi, Danielle —
Happy New Year! You are connected on the "in law" side of my tree. Your great-great grandfather James Alfred McLane had a son, William Lester McLane (1879-1959), who married my first cousin three times removed, Rosetta Mae Moore (1881-1959). Although we are not related ourselves, all the descendants of William and Rosetta are our mutual cousins. In fact, one of our mutual cousins will also be delighted to hear from you!
I will contact you by direct email very soon.

Comments: Hugh Kinghorn remarried in 1932 not 1930. I understand his daughter Elisabeth married someone with the surname Massey and she lived in South Africa and Aberdeen. I think she had 4 children.
Admin reply: Hi, again, Calvin! I appreciate all updates, and will write to you directly once my computer is happy again. In the meantime, let me wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Comments: Hello, my grandfather was hugh kinghorn. Born 1900, died 1978 edinburgh. I think his first wife was elizabeth devlin and he had a daughter elisabeth. He remarried in 1930 and my mother was born in 1935.
Admin reply: Hi, Calvin!
It's very nice to hear from you. As I've mentioned in a few other guest book replies today, I've had a serious computer mishap. My boot drive failed, and so I've been incommunicado for about a week or two. Just got email working again yesterday (December 8th). Once I've finished fixing my computer, I'll email you directly.

Comments: Robert Newman Dawson is my G G Grandmother Jane Buttle's (nee Newman) brother. His wife is noted as having the name Mary CURLE (Abt 1846 –1928) - but my records show her name as Mary C Turnbull and knowing her middle name from your site was most useful. I was able to find her exact birth date as April 3 1846. Cheers James
Admin reply: Hi, James! I'll write a proper email to you in another week or two, but for the moment I'm still in the process of recovering from a computer disaster.
