Comments: Re: Alfred Gassaway Matthews. The man you are describing was my grandfather. The dates and places and my grandmother's information are correct, but his middle name was Gatlin, not Gassaway. His son, my uncle, was named John Gassaway. My grandfather went by Tobe. Also, Samuel M. Matthews, shown as AGM's son, is the wrong name. The dates and places are correct, but his name was just Sam, with no middle initial. He went by Shorty. This was my father. Sam was married a second time, to my mother. They are buried in Copperas Cove, Texas, beside my grandparents. Although I don't think any of this is critical to your research, it came up in several internet searches when I was looking for a picture of my grandfather. Please fix if you get a chance and feel free to contact me if you have questions. Best of luck. Thanks
Admin reply: Hi, Gilbert! Thanks for visiting my website. I will be making some changes to the entries for your father and grandfather, but it will probably be a few months before I next update the website. I will email you directly about this. cheers, Kirsty Haining, Seattle, Washington

Comments: My grandmother on my father's side was Esther Crocker McClurg. I can probably help provide some information for the Crocker side of the tree. I was surprised to see the picture from the gravestone where my Mom and Dad were buried in Brenham.
Admin reply: Hi, Jane! Nice to hear from you. I will contact you directly soon. Thanks for visiting my website. cheers, Kirsty

Comments: Hi, William Guthrie in your tree is my ancestor's sister. William was born at Fordingbridge, Hampshire, England and chr 30 May 1800. You won't find him under the name Guthrie though as he was born William Cottrell and was the son of Clement Cottrell a sergeant in the 37th Regiment of Foot or the North Hampshire Regiment. Clement married Janet Grant on 3rd of June 1797 at Nairn whilst a recruiting Sergeant at Fort George. Clement died in Ayr on 31 March 1817. William and Christopher Cottrell changed their names to Guthrie I expect to sound more Scottish. Sister Dinah Cottrell married John Gash and died in Hanover Square London in 1892. Sister Sarah married George Fergusson in Ayr in 1824 and their son William was my great great grandfather born Ayr on 16 Aug 1824. William was living with his Uncle in Mauchline in 1841 as an apprenticed baker but the parents don't appear anywhere after his birth record!
Admin reply: Hi, Robbie — Thanks for visiting my website, and thanks for the info on your ancestor William Cottrell/Guthrie. I will email you directly soon. Happy New Year! cheers, Kirsty

My Mom was Alice P. Richmond, daughter of Earl W. Richmond. My grandfather wa first married to Hazel Robinson and had six children. They wer divorced at some point and he married a woman named Mabel. They had no children. Hazel was born in 1900 and died in 1975. I haven't got much info on Mabel. Love your website - what a great amount of research you have done. Congrats.

Comments: Hi Kirsty! I'm just researching my family tree and have come across your website. I'm just wondering the connection in which we are and if you have any information on my family. Our descendants to Tasmania were hugh mcginniss (as far as I know he was Irish) and Charlotte simpson/hall (English?), I have found they came out to Australia to Norfolk Island and settled in Tasmania where I am located!! If you have any information on the family or backgrounds that would be great. If you could email that would be fantastic, regards Mikhala
Admin reply: Hi, Mikhala — My 4th great-grandmother was later married to Hugh McGinnis, the son of Hugh McGinnis and Charlotte Hall. So it sounds like we've got a big group of relatives in common. I'll email you directly about what I know of your family connections. Thanks for visiting my website! cheers, Kirsty

Comments: Ella Lawson Tilley married Simeon V Tilley - my husband's grandfather - in 1906 at Laurens County, Georgia. They moved to Tampa in the 1920s. Ella died in 1988. Her daughter, Cecil, is my husband's mother. We are looking for information on Ella's mother, Mary, and on Simeon's father, Valentine Tilley b. 1824, after 1880.
Admin reply: Hi, J Tebo — Thank you for the marriage information. I will email you soon. I don't have any further details myself on Ella's mother Mary or Simeon's father Valentine, but I know someone who might. You'll hear from me soon. Thanks for visiting! cheers, Kirsty
